Potato Ham Cake

Hello everyone! This recipe is quite common in the north of Italy and it is normally prepared during the cold winter months. It is made with mashed potatoes, mozzarella cheese and ham, ingredients which make it a rich and complete dish. In Italy is in mostly eaten as a side dish to a light dinner or lunch, such as soup or salad.

Ingredients

- 1 kg mashed potatoes (see the recipe here)

- 200 gr ham finely cut

- 2 mozzarellas of more or less 125 gr each cut in slices

- 100-150 gr bread crumbs (grated bread)

- ½ spoon of butter

Preheat the oven at 180 degrees. Let's start by making the mashed potato following our recipe. Take a oven-dish, which should be quite deep. Cover it with the butter and add half of the mashed potato.

Now cover the mashed potato floor with 100 gr ham, then cover the ham with the mozzarella cheese and then cover the mozzarella with the rest of the ham.

Now add the rest of the mashed potato en cover everything with the bread crumbs. Eventuelly you can put some extra butter and mozzarella on top.

Bake it for 25-30 minutesin the oven at 180°C (350F). Serve warm!
