IngredientsFor the meat:- 600 g ground beef - 3 tablespoons bread crumbs - 3 tablespoons ketchup (or tomato paste) - 1 egg - parsley - Salt and pepper Sauce:- 1 onion, finely chopped - 2 regular red peppers (8 sweet mini peppers) - 2 cloves of garlic, chopped - 6 tablespoons ketchup (or tomato paste) - 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar - 4 tablespoons brown sugar - 2 tablespoons soy sauce - 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce - Boiling water as needed |
Make the meat mixture: in a bowl mix the ground beef with 3 tablespoons of bread crumbs, 3 tablespoons of ketchup or tomato paste, |
1 egg and salt and pepper to taste. |
Mix everything really good. Chop some parsley and add it in the mixture. Let the meat mixture rest while preparing the sauce. |
Make the sauce. Dice the onion and sweat it in a pan with some olive oil. |
Smash 2 garlic cloves and add them in the pan. |
Slice the red peppers and add them in the pan. |
Cook them for about 5 min, until they get soft. |
In a bowl mix 6 tablespoons of ketchup (or tomato paste), 4 tablespoons of brown sugar |
2 tablespoonsof soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sweet chili sauce. |
Boil some water and add a little bit in the bowl to get a more liquid consistency. Add the sauce in the pan. |
Add a little boiling water - up to the amount likely to be cover the meatballs at least half their height. Cook for about 5 min. |
Start to make balls with the meat mixture. (If the mixture is too soft, add bread crumbs) |
Cook covered 20 min on low fire while shaking the pot from time to time so that the patties are covered with sauce. |
If the sauce is too liquid cook few min more without cover, to evaporate some water. Serve warm. |
