Ingredients- 1.5 kg beef for stew - 0.25 cup flower - 80g bacon cubes - 2 onions - 2 cloves of garlic - 2 tomatoes - 2 bay leaves - 2 teaspoons of paprika - 1 teaspoon of sugar - 2 tablespoons of tomato paste - 1 liter water or as needed - 1 spoon salt or as desired (After 1-2 hours of cooking): - 3 carrots - 2 large potatoes |
Cut the beef into big cubes. Put the flour into a clean plastic bag and shake 10 beef cubes at a time to cover them with flour. |
Remove extra flour and fry cubes in olive oil from all sides until golden. Remove from the pot and save them for later. |
In the same oil, fry the bacon. Add the onions until transparent. |
Add garlic, tomatoes, bay leaves. |
Add paprika and sugar. Mix for one minute. Add the tomato paste and mix. |
Add the meat and the water to almost cover it. |
Cook for at least 1.5 hours – you can cook the Goulash for as long as 3 hours – the longer you cook the more tender the beef will be. Just make sure you have enough water. |
Peel, cut in pieces the potatoes and add them in the pot. |
Peel, cut in pieces the carrots add them in the pot for one more hour of cooking. |
Serve hot. |
