IngredientsFor the dough- 50ml cold water - 150g of butter - 300g of flour - pinch of salt Filling- 1kg of apples - juice of half a lenon - lemon peel - cinnamon - nutmeg - 1 tlb spoon of flour - 100g of sugar - 15g of butter - chocolate chip to decorate (optional) - 2 tablespoons of milk |
Cut the butter and let it warm up at room temperature. In a bowl place the flour and add the butter. |
Mix the flour and butter until they form fine crumbs (if you want you can use a mixer to be faster) and then add the water. Make a ball with your hands. |
Wrap the ball and let it cool in the refrigerator for at least 30 min. |
In the meanwhile peel the apples and slice them. Add them in a mixing bowl. Add the lemon peel. |
Add ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg to taste (half teaspoon usually is fine, and if you really like the spices you can add more) |
Add the sugar and one tablespoon of flour. |
Mix everything. Squeeze half lemon and add the juice in the bowl. Mix. |
On a flat surface cut the dough into two pieces, leaving one piece a bit bigger than the other. Take the bigger one and make it flat. Spread some butter in a pie pan. |
Sprinkle some flour over the butter and place the dough. Cut the dough following the edge of the pan. |
Add the apples and some small pieces of butter on top. Make flat the second half of the dough. |
Place it on top of the apple and cut it according to the edge of the pie pan. With a fork press the edge of the pie. |
Spread some milk over the cake so the dough won't burn in the oven. Bake the cake in the oven for 1 hour at 180°C (360F) |
Serve a bit warm, just amazing! |
